Role Overview

The IT Project Manager 2 position in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a four-day hybrid role at our North Scottsdale office, offering the perfect blend of collaboration and flexibility. This individual contributor role reports to the Manager of Agile Practice and involves partnering with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, and external vendor teams. You'll take full ownership of end-to-end delivery for complex software engineering initiatives, bringing clarity to intricate projects from planning to production release. Ideal for seasoned project managers who excel in fast-paced, multi-team environments, this role emphasizes proactive risk management, dependency tracking, and data-driven decision-making using tools like Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you'll own the delivery outcomes of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring scope, schedule, risks, and dependencies are balanced for success. Develop and maintain integrated project plans, risk registers, and dependency maps. Drive execution by resolving issues, facilitating trade-offs, and holding teams accountable to commitments. Proactively identify and escalate risks while coordinating across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, and vendors. Deliver clear, data-driven status reports to senior leadership, utilizing Atlassian tools for transparency. Embrace automation, AI tools, and flow-based metrics like cycle time, throughput, WIP, and Monte Carlo simulations to optimize planning, forecasting, and reporting. Continuously refine delivery practices to boost predictability and stakeholder confidence.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, candidates need a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, plus PMP Certification. Require 3–5 years of project management experience in software engineering, with strong SDLC expertise managing interdependent workstreams. Proficiency in project fundamentals—scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality—is essential, alongside advanced Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and preferably Smartsheet. Preferred: SaaS/cloud product delivery, AI/automation in project management, and flow-based metrics. Key competencies include ensuring accountability, driving results under pressure, and nimble learning. Excellent communication skills for executive reporting are a must.
