Position Summary
Sonoco's Global Information Security team is seeking a skilled IT Security Engineer (Security Engineer II) for a hybrid role at our Corporate Headquarters in Hartsville, South Carolina (2-3 days in office weekly). This position focuses on designing, developing, and implementing advanced security solutions to safeguard against cyberattacks. You'll support enterprise security platforms, monitor threats, and ensure infrastructure integrity across networks, cloud services, and on-premises systems in a complex global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage maintenance and operation of security controls, including baselining systems and trend analysis.
- Identify improvements in security toolsets and recommend enhancements.
- Build relationships with vendors and partners.
- Support security policy reviews, configurations, and third-party audits.
- Oversee technical delivery for operational excellence.
- Provide daily operational guidance and benchmark security standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on emerging security needs.
- Assist in incident remediation and cybersecurity investigations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years in security engineering.
- Proven experience with security KPIs, metrics, and continuous improvement processes.
- Strong skills in threat monitoring, analysis, mitigation, and response.
