Test Equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) Operator

Job Summary

The Test Equipment PM Operator is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, calibration support, and operational checks on electronic test equipment used in manufacturing. This role ensures test systems remain reliable, accurate, and compliant with quality and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on test equipment according to established schedules and procedures

  • Clean, inspect, and replace wear parts (cables, probes, sockets, fixtures, fans, filters, etc.)

  • Verify equipment functionality after PM activities

Equipment Operation & Support

  • Set up and verify test equipment readiness for production use

  • Assist operators and technicians with basic test equipment issues

  • Identify abnormal equipment behavior and escalate to engineering when required

Calibration & Compliance

  • Support calibration activities and ensure equipment is within calibration status

  • Maintain calibration labels, records, and traceability

  • Follow ESD, safety, and quality system requirements (ISO, IPC, etc.)

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete PM checklists, logs, and maintenance records accurately

  • Report recurring issues, equipment downtime, and PM findings

  • Assist in updating PM procedures and work instructions

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in root cause analysis for test equipment failures

  • Support improvement activities to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability

  • Follow 5S and lean manufacturing practices in the test area

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, test, or equipment maintenance preferred

  • Familiarity with test equipment such as ICT, FCT, functional testers, ATE, oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, or RF test systems is a plus

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of electronic components and circuits

  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures and schematics

  • Basic troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude

  • Comfortable using computers for data entry and documentation

  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills
