What this job involves

 


This position requires strong technical skills to operate and maintain critical plant utilities on rotating shifts. The role focuses on providing on-site operations of all facilities systems, including Purified Water and Water for Injection generation and distribution systems, while ensuring reliable and efficient operation of base building and critical environment functions through detailed reporting and maintenance activities.
 

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

 


• Perform electrical corrective maintenance, equipment rounds, and service requests for critical utilities systems
• Inspect and generate work orders to repair water generation and distribution equipment including pumps, valves, and motors
• Track electrical and mechanical loads for all critical systems and monitor operational set points and control points
• Conduct routine inspections of Critical Utilities systems and address maintenance needs promptly
• Perform emergency or preventative maintenance repairs during off-hours, nights, and weekends as needed
• Provide written reports and logs to the Utilities Manager documenting daily events and system operations
• Work with supervisors to determine root causes for equipment damage and recommend procedural improvements
 

 

Required Qualifications:

 


• Technical Associate Degree or equivalent experience in Critical Utilities (USP and WFI Water systems)
• Valid Electrical License
• Experience with uninterruptible power systems and emergency power systems
• Ability to read HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and architectural blueprints
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and performing basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks
• Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation
• Ability to use Windows-based computers and software systems
 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Basic knowledge of MAXIMO or similar computerized maintenance management systems
• Previous experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences critical utilities environments
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance requirements
• Experience with water system validation and qualification processes
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance scheduling and work order management
• Understanding of root cause analysis methodologies and problem-solving techniques
• Experience working in team environments with supervisors and planners
