Engineering Assistant

Position Overview

As an Engineering Assistant at JLL, you will jumpstart your career in commercial real estate and building operations. Under supervision, you will support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in a multi-site portfolio in Round Rock, TX. This entry-level, on-site position is part of a multi-year training program designed to pave the way for your career growth in the engineering field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems to ensure safe and continuous operation.

  • Complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and maintain accurate service documentation.

  • Move office furniture, machinery, and equipment as required.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and properly store, use, and dispose of tools and hazardous materials.

  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and process training.

  • Respond to on-call emergencies and urgent maintenance issues as scheduled.

  • Ensure all work in tenant/client spaces is performed with minimal disruption and proper cleanup.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Eligibility to join an approved assistant program (if applicable).

  • Preferred: One year of hands-on experience in maintenance, HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, or related trades.

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and comfortable working on ladders up to 30 feet.

  • Willing and able to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and occasionally drive.

  • Strong customer service skills and good written/oral communication abilities.

  • Must be a team player, reliable, and organized.

  • Willingness to work call-in or after-hours shifts as required.

Engineering Assistant
