ENGINEERING EXECUTIVE INTERN

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Executive Intern to support our facilities management operations at manufacturing sites in Colombo and Kandy. This internship provides hands-on experience in industrial engineering systems, maintenance operations, and facilities management within a leading manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Support Services

  • Assist in Engineering Service Desk operations and request management

  • Support documentation and record-keeping for maintenance activities

  • Help monitor and report system abnormalities through Building Management Systems (BMS)

  • Assist with permit issuing and closure processes for maintenance work

  • Support weekly formal updates and stakeholder communications

Technical Systems Support

  • Learn and assist with monitoring of:

    • Electricity distribution systems and lighting

    • Air conditioning and humidity control services

    • Fire detection and protection systems

    • Water distribution and waste management systems

    • Generator operations and emergency systems

    • Security surveillance systems

Data Management & Analysis

  • Assist with daily metering and condition monitoring activities

  • Support data gathering and inspection checklist completion

  • Help maintain engineering records per Quality & Environmental Management Systems

  • Assist in breakdown analysis and performance reporting

Compliance & Safety Support

  • Learn and support Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policy implementation

  • Assist with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inspection records

  • Support work permit processes for specialized maintenance activities

  • Help maintain housekeeping standards in work areas

Required Qualifications

Education & Skills

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data management

  • Good communication skills in English

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong attention to detail and safety consciousness

  • Willingness to learn multiple technical disciplines

  • Professional demeanor and reliability

  • Team collaboration skills

Working Conditions

Schedule & Location

  • Primary Site: Colombo manufacturing facility

  • Secondary Site: Kandy manufacturing facility

  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

  • Duration: 6-12 months internship program

Safety Requirements

  • Must pass medical screening including Full Blood Count, Total Cholesterol, FBS, UFR, and Blood Pressure clearance

  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, ear plugs, dust masks, and high visibility jackets

  • Adherence to Environmental Health and Safety policies

  • Security clearance from Police Station and Grama Seva Niladhari required

Reporting Structure

  • Direct Supervisor: Engineering Manager (Colombo Site) / Factory Manager (Kandy Site)

  • Coordination with: Projects Engineer, Assistant Managers - Engineering Department, Engineering Executives

  • Training Support: Access to training programs and development opportunities

Learning Opportunities

  • Exposure to industrial-scale engineering systems

  • Training in maintenance management and reliability engineering

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance in manufacturing

  • Experience with quality management systems

  • Professional development through training calendar participation
