What this job requires:

  • Hands-on experience and expertise in managing US Payroll and related activities
  • Solid understanding of US labour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Collaboration with union representatives to establish and maintain accurate payroll deductions for union dues, benefits, and other negotiated compensation elements.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and union contract terms
  • Provide consistent oversight and management of all payroll service providers in alignment with agreements and service levels.
  • Responsible for delivery of payroll updates/dashboards/analytics to support business strategy and decision making
  • High proficiency in guiding and advising in resolving complex payroll queries across Tier 2-3
  • Ensure end to end processes are implemented and consistently executed to drive compliance and timely pay in close partnership with the country/onshore Payroll Leads.
  • Validate compliant processes and controls are established, trained, maintained, and executed in accordance with internal policies and required laws and regulations
  • Test on a regular basis global payroll risk controls to identify, mitigate and remediate issues and control gaps
  • Align with Quality Framework and own Quality check process from payroll risk and control perspective
  • Oversee the establishment of key Service Level Agreements, quality targets and global Key Performance Indicators deploying reporting and analytics to support management decisions and continuous improvement
  • Support HR change and transformational efforts impacting the function and business
  • Lead stakeholder/client calls with the US process owners and/or HR partners on a regular basis 
  • Partner with Payroll vendors/local HR’s/Finance/Team for Payroll and managing payroll activities as per the defined calendar/timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Proven US payroll experience (10+ years) large multi-national or global payroll function
  • Proven experience with implementation and/or delivery of global payroll controls and/or policy
  • Strong payroll compliance and vendor management experience
  • Experience in providing payroll services to organizations with union representation
  • Understanding of collective bargaining agreements and client MSAs
  • Experience with new system, vendor, and operating model implementations
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems specifically SAP GV ADP and Workday.
  • Proficiency in analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient to work in a fast-paced environment with constant/tight deadlines.
  • Proficient on MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) with good command on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.  
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
