The CO2/ Inergen Assembler works under the direction of the Standard Product Supervisor. The Supervisor schedules the work, but the CO2/Inergen Assembler works independently. Following a defined assembly procedure and using prints, this employee assembles a variety of component parts to make up CO2 Fire Protection Systems. Components include CO2 cylinders, Inergen, tubing, actuators, sensors and switches. This employee must also use Bridgeport boring machine to drill and bore various CO2, Inergen and low-pressure CO2 nozzles. He/she assures quality and type of components by checking tolerances, rate of rise, electric and pneumatic actuators and conducts pressure and water testing on cylinders and valves (up to 6000 psi). The assembler works on Returned Material Authorizations (RMS's). Job duties involve production of a multitude of parts (many of which are low volume production items and scheduled infrequently), keeping and recording various records and 100% Inspection Forms according to ESTP, ESMP, ESRP, and ESQP Books. The assembler fills government records and production orders and stamps employee identification on valves. This employee must have valid Tyco forklift license and will move parts on the 2nd shift. This position requires Associates placed in the position to successfully complete specific training. These training requirements can be located on the Marinette Operations Training Matrix. The company reserves the right to rotate employees to other departments or work assignments within the organization as needed based upon skill set, production needs, etc.
How you will do it
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. The employee must be able to read, write, understand simple math, have knowledge of electronics, blueprint reading (approx. 1900 prints) for sub-assemblies/final assembly, mechanical aptitude in trouble shooting units that do not work properly, work from moderately complex to complex drawings and specifications involving limited detail. He/she should have experience with hand and powers tools. The employee uses decimals and fractions in stamping and weighing operations and records procedures as part of the job. This position requires judgment in order to plan and perform work, make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations, processes, and quality within the limitations of recognized UL/FM and Ansul standards. Judgment is required in leak test operations. Work is performed using prints, work instructions and tool reference book for set-ups. An average of thirty (30) with up to one hundred (100) part numbers may be on a print. Many of the parts look alike and some go together one way and not another. This person determines whether CO2 or oxygen that have escaped from components being tested. The employee is expected to work out own problems and troubleshoot components or to rework components to specifications as prescribed on print or work instructions.
The completion of inspection reports and government paperwork may be required to document test results. A degree of ingenuity required when a fixture is not available during assembly. The assembler evaluates, repairs/rebuilds and tests customer returned product. The CO2/Inergen Assembler uses a crane to maneuver test racks that weigh up to 2400 lbs. or more. The assembler torques a regulator up to 400-inch pounds and maneuvers valves which can weigh up to 226 lbs. This position handles jigs without aid of crane and works frequently with light to average weight material (1-55 lbs.). The assembler will conduct repetitive functions as a part of the job. He/she with arms over shoulder height to install sleeves on cylinder. Continuous mental or visual attention is required in assembly operation to ensure parts are assembled in proper sequence. Close attention is also required in leak tests when checking for bubbles. The assembler must exercise care when working with brass parts. When making nameplates, the employee assures accurate spelling on instructions and part numbers. Care and attention required for accurate readings on all measuring devices (i.e., dial depth, digital calipers, multimeter, etc.). Care and attention also required when testing parts under pressure.
