Job Description

Are you looking to gain heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) knowledge and learn firsthand from industry leading professionals? Our team will give you this opportunity. In addition, we provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA). We will equip you with tools and a vehicle to perform your job at the highest standard.

What you will do

As a Union HVAC Mechanic Apprentice at Johnson Controls, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and relevant building automation technologies in today’s market. How you will do it

  • Apprentices will be trained and will perform service on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.

  • Apprentices will participate in certified trainings through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.

  • Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.

  • You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.

  • You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.

What we look for

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience servicing light and heavy commercial HVAC equipment.

  • Must be willing to join, and be accepted by, the Local 155 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.

  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug test.

  • Passion and desire to learn and apply on the job.

  • Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital and written skills.

  • Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.

  • Prioritize safety in all forms.

  • EPA Universal Certification

Pay Range: $17.25 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that exceed the typical profile.
