Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily accounting operations for alternative investment funds, ensuring accurate NAV calculations and timely reporting
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and investor allocations in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and client-specific requirements
  • Manage fund-level reconciliations, including cash, positions, income, and expenses for private equity, hedge, and real asset portfolios
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as portfolio management, risk, and compliance to support fund launches, restructurings, and audits
  • Conduct variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to maintain data integrity and operational efficiency
  • Liaise with external auditors, custodians, and prime brokers to facilitate smooth audits and resolve issues
  • Implement and enhance control processes to mitigate risks in fund accounting workflows
  • Support regulatory filings and reporting obligations, including FATCA, AIFMD, and local Indian requirements
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development initiatives within the Alternatives Fund Controller group

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent certification required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, or controller roles within the financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of alternative investments including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and infrastructure funds
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation, GAAP/IFRS compliance, and regulatory reporting standards
  • Experience with fund administration software and ERP systems such as Investran or Geneva
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strict deadlines
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Finance) or CFA designation
  • Prior experience at a Big Four firm or major asset manager in alternatives fund controlling
  • Knowledge of Indian GAAP and SEBI regulations for funds operating in India
  • Demonstrated project management experience in financial operations or process improvements
