Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on special situations credit opportunities, including distressed debt, event-driven strategies, and opportunistic investments
  • Develop comprehensive credit models and valuation assessments to support portfolio management decisions within JP Morgan Chase's Asset Management division
  • Collaborate with the Head of Research and portfolio managers to identify and evaluate high-conviction investment ideas in volatile market conditions
  • Monitor ongoing credit risks and market developments, providing timely updates and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and investment memos for internal committees and client communications
  • Engage with external parties, including company management, legal advisors, and other financial institutions, to gather insights on special situations
  • Contribute to the development of research methodologies and tools to enhance the team's situational analysis capabilities
  • Support due diligence processes for potential investments, ensuring compliance with JP Morgan Chase's risk and regulatory standards
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to knowledge sharing within the research team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in credit analysis, special situations investing, or distressed debt within asset management or investment banking
  • Proven track record in analyzing complex credit scenarios, including restructurings, bankruptcies, and special situations in public and private markets
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and risk assessment in the financial services industry
  • Experience working in a high-stakes research environment at a major financial institution
  • Ability to obtain necessary regulatory licenses (e.g., Series 7, Series 63) if not already held
  • U.S. work authorization without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA charterholder or progress toward CFA designation
  • Prior experience at a bulge-bracket bank like JP Morgan Chase or similar in asset management
