Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advisory support to investment professionals on special situations private credit deals, including due diligence and transaction structuring
  • Collaborate with the Head Legal Analyst to review and negotiate complex cross-border agreements and fund documentation
  • Assist in portfolio management by identifying and mitigating legal risks in credit investments
  • Conduct legal research on emerging regulations impacting private credit and asset management
  • Support fund formation and ongoing compliance matters for JP Morgan's asset management platforms
  • Draft and review legal opinions, memos, and contracts related to private credit portfolios
  • Work cross-functionally with compliance, risk, and operations teams to ensure seamless workflows

  • Contribute to training and knowledge-sharing sessions for junior legal and investment staff

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the New York State Bar Association
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant legal experience in private credit, asset management, or financial services
  • Proven track record in advising on complex cross-border private credit transactions and fund structures
  • Strong understanding of U.S. and international regulatory frameworks, including SEC regulations and fund compliance
  • Experience in portfolio management workflows within asset management firms
  • Ability to collaborate with investment professionals and legal teams in high-stakes environments

  • Prior experience at a major financial institution such as JP Morgan Chase or similar
