Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to J.P. Morgan's Global Alternative Investment Solutions group on fund formation, structuring, and ongoing operations
  • Review and draft key legal documents including investment management agreements, side letters, and compliance policies
  • Advise on regulatory compliance matters related to SEC filings, CFTC requirements, and anti-money laundering (AML) obligations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including compliance, risk management, and business development to mitigate legal risks
  • Conduct due diligence on investment opportunities and counterparties in alternative assets
  • Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations from bodies like the SEC or FINRA
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to support innovative alternative investment products
  • Monitor emerging legal and regulatory trends in the alternative investments space and provide proactive guidance
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution involving alternative investment funds

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the New York State Bar (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant legal experience in financial services, with a focus on alternative investments such as hedge funds, private equity, or real assets
  • Proven track record advising on complex regulatory matters including SEC regulations, Dodd-Frank Act, and investment adviser compliance
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets and alternative investment structures, including fund formation and operational legal issues
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment within a major financial institution
  • Excellent judgment and ability to manage confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a bulge-bracket bank or asset management firm like J.P. Morgan Chase
