Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of regulatory and risk initiatives focused on data privacy protection and secure storage within JP Morgan Chase's Chief Data Office
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations and internal policies
  • Design, assess, and enhance data management controls to mitigate risks associated with data handling in financial services operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, IT, and business units, to drive privacy-by-design principles
  • Oversee data classification, retention, and disposal processes to align with regulatory requirements and business needs
  • Monitor emerging privacy risks and regulatory changes, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Conduct gap analyses and remediation plans for data storage practices across JP Morgan's global infrastructure
  • Facilitate training and awareness programs on data privacy and governance for employees in Bengaluru and other locations
  • Report on key metrics and KPIs related to data management compliance to Chief Data Office executives
  • Support audit and regulatory reporting by ensuring accurate documentation of privacy controls and storage mechanisms

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data management, governance, or compliance roles within the financial services industry
  • Proven track record in leading regulatory initiatives related to data privacy and storage, with knowledge of global standards such as GDPR, CCPA, and Basel III
  • Experience in risk management frameworks and control design for data protection in a large-scale banking environment
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, including storage, encryption, and access controls
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in executing compliance and governance programs
  • Certification in data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) or risk management (e.g., CRISC) is highly desirable
