Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tax reporting and compliance for a portfolio of high-profile clients, ensuring adherence to Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements
  • Review and process client tax documentation, including withholding tax certificates and income statements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements in tax operations
  • Conduct tax audits and reconciliations to minimize errors and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
  • Provide tax advisory support to clients on investment products and portfolio structures
  • Monitor regulatory changes in tax laws and update internal procedures accordingly
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and liaise with external tax authorities on behalf of clients
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of client tax positions using JP Morgan's proprietary systems
  • Support senior team members in resolving complex tax queries and disputes
  • Contribute to training initiatives for junior staff on tax best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in tax operations, compliance, or advisory within the financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations, including GST, withholding tax, and corporate tax obligations
  • Proficiency in tax software and financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms
  • Relevant professional certification such as CPA, CA, or CTA (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive client data with strict confidentiality
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients or institutional investors in a banking environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Taxation or Law
  • Prior experience at a Big Four firm or major financial institution like JP Morgan Chase
  • Knowledge of international tax treaties and cross-border tax implications
