Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on consumer banking product development, including credit cards, deposits, and lending innovations
  • Support branch operations by ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations for retail banking activities
  • Advise on customer segmentation strategies to enhance personalized banking experiences while mitigating legal risks
  • Collaborate with business teams to review and draft contracts, policies, and disclosures for consumer products
  • Conduct legal risk assessments for new initiatives in consumer banking strategy
  • Monitor regulatory changes from agencies like CFPB and FDIC, and implement necessary updates
  • Represent Consumer Banking in internal legal reviews and external regulatory interactions
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution related to consumer banking matters
  • Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to the development of legal training programs

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar
  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience in consumer banking, financial services, or related regulatory fields
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. consumer protection laws, including FCRA, TILA, and ECOA
  • Proven experience advising on product innovation, branch operations, and customer segmentation strategies in a banking environment
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for consumer banking products and services
  • Ability to manage complex legal projects with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced financial institution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a major financial institution like JP Morgan Chase or similar
