Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of data engineering solutions for aggregating and modeling communications data across JP Morgan Chase's global operations
• Oversee the development of scalable data pipelines to handle high-volume, real-time communications data from emails, chats, and voice recordings
• Collaborate with data scientists, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to create intuitive visualizations and dashboards for regulatory reporting
• Drive innovation in data modeling techniques to enhance surveillance and risk management in the financial services sector
• Mentor and manage a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Ensure all data solutions adhere to JP Morgan's strict security, privacy, and compliance standards, including GDPR and FINRA regulations
• Optimize data storage and processing using cloud-native technologies to support firm-wide analytics initiatives
• Identify and mitigate technical risks in communications data systems, ensuring 99.99% uptime for critical applications
• Partner with senior leadership to align data engineering strategies with broader firm objectives in asset management and investment banking

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on large-scale data aggregation and modeling in financial services
• Proven track record leading engineering teams in building data pipelines and visualization tools for enterprise environments
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with experience in scalable data architectures
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in financial communications data, including MiFID II and SEC requirements
• Experience with agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration in a global financial institution

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
• Prior experience at a major financial institution like JP Morgan Chase or similar, working on communications surveillance systems
• Certification in cloud data engineering (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics or Google Professional Data Engineer)
• Background in machine learning for data anomaly detection in financial datasets

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data processing and ETL development
• Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
• Experience with big data technologies like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka for streaming data
• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js
• Strong cloud computing skills in AWS (S3, EMR, Lambda) or equivalent
