Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis and review of environmental reports, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs, for real estate lending transactions
  • Assess potential environmental risks and liabilities associated with collateral properties to inform credit decisions
  • Collaborate with credit officers, legal teams, and external environmental consultants to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Develop and recommend mitigation strategies for identified environmental risks in loan portfolios
  • Monitor ongoing environmental compliance for existing real estate loans and provide updates to senior management
  • Contribute to the enhancement of JPMorgan Chase's environmental risk policies and procedures
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on environmental risk findings for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Stay abreast of evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices to support sustainable lending practices
  • Support due diligence processes for high-value real estate deals, integrating environmental factors into overall risk assessment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental risk assessment, credit risk analysis, or real estate lending
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations such as EPA guidelines, NEPA, and state-specific environmental laws
  • Proven experience reviewing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for lending decisions
