Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to JP Morgan Chase's Fund Services Business on fund structuring, launches, and ongoing operations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate fund-related agreements, including subscription documents, side letters, and service contracts
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including UK FCA rules and international standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as compliance, risk management, and business development to mitigate legal risks
  • Advise on regulatory changes impacting alternative investment funds and hedge funds
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and regulators on behalf of the Fund Services division
  • Conduct legal due diligence on fund investments and counterparties
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution related to fund services activities
  • Contribute to the development of legal policies and training programs for the team

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in financial services law, particularly in fund services or asset management
  • Admitted to practice in the UK or another common law jurisdiction, with strong knowledge of English law and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience advising on fund formation, investment structures, and regulatory compliance in the financial services sector
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
  • Strong academic background, including a law degree from a recognized institution and completion of legal practice course or equivalent
  • Experience working in a global financial institution, preferably with exposure to cross-border transactions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a major bank like JP Morgan Chase
  • Knowledge of EU/UK fund regulations such as AIFMD, UCITS, and MiFID II
  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to European or international clients
  • Track record of handling high-stakes negotiations and drafting complex fund documentation
