Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on outsourcing arrangements, cloud computing services, and other technology initiatives across EMEA, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations
  • Draft, negotiate, and review technology-related agreements, including SaaS contracts, data processing agreements, and vendor partnerships
  • Advise on data privacy and security matters, including GDPR compliance, data transfers, and breach response protocols in the financial services context
  • Collaborate with global technology teams, business units, and external counsel to mitigate legal risks in technology deployments
  • Support regulatory filings and responses to inquiries from authorities like the FCA, PRA, and EBA regarding technology and outsourcing
  • Conduct legal due diligence on technology vendors and assess risks associated with third-party service providers
  • Develop and deliver training on technology legal issues to internal stakeholders in JP Morgan Chase's EMEA operations
  • Monitor and analyze evolving legal and regulatory developments in technology law impacting the banking sector
  • Assist in dispute resolution and litigation involving technology contracts and intellectual property matters

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in technology law, preferably in a financial services context
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR) and their application to technology outsourcing and cloud services
  • Experience advising on regulatory compliance for financial institutions, including FCA and PRA requirements in the EMEA region
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex commercial contracts related to technology procurement and vendor management
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are advantageous
  • Admission to practice in the UK or an equivalent jurisdiction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a global financial institution, ideally with exposure to cross-border technology transactions
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and cybersecurity in a banking environment
  • Advanced degree in law or a related field, such as an LLM in technology or intellectual property law
