Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical due diligence on energy assets, including reserve evaluations and production forecasts for M&A transactions
  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess valuation, risk, and return profiles of energy projects
  • Collaborate with investment banking teams to structure deals in upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors
  • Analyze market data and regulatory impacts on energy transactions, providing insights to senior bankers
  • Support pitch book preparation and client presentations with technical energy expertise
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis using SQL and Python for transaction support
  • Assist in risk assessment for financing structures, including debt and equity offerings in energy
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in renewables to advise on strategic opportunities
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing on technical transaction best practices within JP Morgan's Energy group

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or a related quantitative field
  • 1-3 years of experience in technical analysis, data engineering, or transaction support within the energy sector
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, including oil & gas, renewables, and commodities trading
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and transaction structuring for M&A or project finance deals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with cross-functional teams
  • U.S. work authorization and willingness to relocate to Houston, TX

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) in a relevant field
  • Experience with energy-specific software tools like PHDwin or Aries for reserve engineering
  • Prior internship or role at a bulge-bracket investment bank like JP Morgan Chase
