Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable Java applications on AWS to support critical financial services platforms
• Collaborate with agile teams to deliver innovative tech solutions across multiple technical domains, including backend services and cloud infrastructure
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Ensure application security, compliance with financial regulations, and adherence to JP Morgan's engineering standards
• Optimize system performance and reliability for high-volume transaction processing in a 24/7 financial environment
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning to drive project success
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production environments, minimizing downtime for banking operations
• Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance functionality in areas like payments, risk management, and client data handling
• Contribute to the evolution of cloud-native architectures, leveraging AWS services like EC2, Lambda, and S3

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on Java-based applications
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying applications on AWS cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries, with knowledge of compliance standards like GDPR and SOX
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or Developer Associate
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
• Prior work at a large financial institution, particularly in core banking or trading systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in a high-availability environment

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Java and related frameworks like Spring Boot
• Expertise in AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with databases such as SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (DynamoDB)
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Understanding of security best practices, including OAuth, encryption, and vulnerability scanning
• Agile and Scrum methodologies, with tools like Jira or Confluence
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking in fast-paced environments
• Leadership and communication skills for team collaboration
• Knowledge of financial domain concepts like transaction processing and regulatory compliance
