Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases to support high-volume financial transactions and analytics
• Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization to ensure low-latency access for trading platforms
• Manage database backups, disaster recovery procedures, and replication strategies to uphold data integrity and availability
• Collaborate with development teams to review database schemas, queries, and ensure secure coding practices
• Implement security measures including encryption, access controls, and auditing to comply with financial regulations
• Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, conducting root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences
• Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages like Python or Bash
• Support migration of legacy databases to modern Postgres environments in cloud infrastructures
• Monitor database health using tools like pgAdmin, Prometheus, or custom dashboards
• Contribute to infrastructure projects enhancing scalability for JP Morgan's global operations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator in a large-scale enterprise environment
• Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high-availability configurations for Postgres
• Strong understanding of financial services regulations such as SOX, GDPR, and PCI-DSS compliance
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP for database deployment and management
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing downtime in mission-critical systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certifications such as PostgreSQL Certified Engineer or Oracle Database Administrator
• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with trading or risk management systems
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes for database orchestration
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation scripting for database deployments
• Prior experience at a global financial institution like JP Morgan Chase
