Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable infrastructure to support JP Morgan Chase's global financial applications
• Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring 99.99% uptime for critical trading and payment processing systems
• Collaborate with development teams to automate deployments and integrate SRE principles into the software development lifecycle
• Conduct root cause analysis for production incidents and develop proactive measures to prevent recurrence
• Manage on-call rotations and incident response for high-priority issues in a 24/7 financial operations environment
• Implement security controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data protection in banking services
• Mentor and guide a team of SREs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Optimize cloud costs and resource utilization while maintaining performance SLAs for enterprise applications
• Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations and reliability playbooks
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and contribute to strategic initiatives in JP Morgan's technology roadmap

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering roles
• Proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability systems in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with hands-on experience in infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, and incident management processes
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to financial institutions (e.g., SOC 2, PCI-DSS)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a focus on risk management and operational resilience

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Professional SRE
• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with trading systems or core banking platforms
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and microservices architecture
• Prior leadership experience mentoring junior engineers in SRE practices
• Master's degree in a technical field or relevant professional certifications in reliability engineering

Required Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, or Java for automation scripting
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Terraform
• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and networking fundamentals
• Experience with observability stacks including logging (ELK), metrics, and alerting
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex issues
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders
• Familiarity with SRE methodologies, including error budgets and SLO/SLI definitions
• Knowledge of database management systems like SQL and NoSQL in high-volume environments
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations during market volatility events
• Understanding of agile methodologies and version control systems like Git
• Skills in performance tuning and capacity planning for cloud-native applications
