Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs that support core banking functions like payments, trading, and customer data management
• Lead agile teams in implementing scalable tech solutions across multiple domains, ensuring alignment with JP Morgan's digital transformation goals
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers, data scientists, and compliance teams, to define API requirements
• Optimize API performance and security to handle high-volume financial transactions while adhering to regulatory standards
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and best practices in software engineering
• Conduct code reviews, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high availability of APIs in production environments
• Troubleshoot complex issues in API integrations and contribute to disaster recovery planning for critical systems
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend integrations that enhance JP Morgan's competitive edge in financial services
• Document API specifications and ensure seamless interoperability with internal and external partner systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on API development and integration
• Proven track record in leading agile teams and delivering scalable solutions in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and SOX
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in secure API deployments
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence in high-stakes projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience in fintech or banking software development at a large-scale institution
• Certifications in API design (e.g., RESTful APIs, OpenAPI) or cloud security (e.g., AWS Certified Developer)
• Prior work on real-time data processing systems for trading or risk management

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Node.js for backend API development
• Expertise in RESTful and GraphQL API design and implementation
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with database systems like SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB)
• Familiarity with security protocols including OAuth, JWT, and encryption for financial data
• Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira or Confluence
• Cloud computing skills in AWS or Azure, with focus on API Gateway and serverless architectures
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking for complex financial system challenges
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for team leadership
• Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD with Jenkins or GitHub Actions
• Knowledge of performance monitoring tools like Splunk or New Relic
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments in the banking sector
