Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend platforms supporting JPM Personal Investing services
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and frontend teams to deliver scalable investment solutions
• Implement secure, high-performance APIs and microservices for handling personal investment data and transactions
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal security standards in all platform features
• Mentor and guide a team of backend engineers, fostering innovation and code quality
• Optimize system performance and scalability to support growing user base in personal investing
• Integrate third-party financial services and market data feeds into the platform
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to align with business goals
• Contribute to the strategic roadmap for backend infrastructure in JPMorgan Chase's investing ecosystem

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 4 years in backend development
• Proven track record in designing and implementing scalable backend platforms in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, such as GDPR and FCA standards
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile environments
• Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, with a focus on secure, high-availability systems
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the wealth management or personal investing sector at a major financial institution
• Knowledge of investment platforms and APIs for trading, portfolio management, or market data integration
• Certifications in relevant technologies, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Java certifications
• Prior work with big data technologies and real-time processing in fintech applications
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in a regulated industry

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java, Python, or Go for backend development
• Proficiency in Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar frameworks
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB)
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Skills in secure coding practices and vulnerability management in financial systems
• Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking for complex backend challenges

• Knowledge of financial protocols, such as FIX for trading integrations
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, ELK Stack) for system reliability
