Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable Java-based applications on AWS infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, architects, and compliance experts to deliver technology products aligned with JP Morgan Chase's strategic goals
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment
• Implement and optimize cloud-native solutions using AWS services like EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS to ensure high availability and performance
• Conduct code reviews, identify technical risks, and drive resolutions to maintain system stability in a 24/7 financial environment
• Integrate security protocols and monitoring tools to protect sensitive financial data and comply with industry regulations
• Contribute to agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to accelerate delivery timelines
• Innovate on emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities for global banking operations
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, minimizing downtime for critical services

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on Java technologies
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in designing and delivering cloud-based solutions on AWS
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and compliance standards in the financial services industry
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines in a high-stakes environment
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence in a collaborative setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or fintech, particularly with payment systems or risk management platforms
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or Developer Expert
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks like GDPR, PCI-DSS, or SOX relevant to banking
• Prior leadership in open-source contributions or internal innovation projects at scale

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java (JDK 8+), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Proficiency in AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudFormation
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and database technologies (SQL/NoSQL)
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in cloud environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline
• Understanding of security best practices, including OAuth, JWT, and encryption for financial data
• Agile and Scrum methodologies with tools like Jira or Confluence
• Problem-solving and debugging skills in high-pressure, mission-critical systems
• Leadership and communication skills for team collaboration and stakeholder management
• Knowledge of performance optimization and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack)
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and integration testing
• Soft skills: Adaptability, attention to detail, and ethical decision-making in regulated industries
• Basic understanding of financial concepts like transaction processing and risk assessment
• Version control proficiency with Git and collaborative development practices
