Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust Java-based applications deployed on AWS, ensuring scalability and performance in a financial services context
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that drive revenue and efficiency
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and best practices within the team
• Implement secure, compliant systems adhering to financial regulations such as GDPR, SOX, and Basel III
• Optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, including services like EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS, to support high-volume transaction processing
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high availability of mission-critical applications
• Drive agile methodologies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to deliver projects on time in a fast-paced banking environment
• Integrate emerging technologies like microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines to enhance system resilience
• Analyze and mitigate risks in software architectures, particularly for fraud detection and secure data handling in financial platforms

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on Java development
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable applications on AWS cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of financial services domain, including regulatory compliance and risk management
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile environments
• Demonstrated ability to drive business impact through technology solutions in high-stakes environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with JP Morgan's internal tools and frameworks in financial services
• Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional) or Java (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional)
• Prior work in capital markets, payments, or investment banking technology

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java programming, including Spring Boot and Hibernate frameworks
• Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation)
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or DynamoDB
• Familiarity with DevOps tools: Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes
• Understanding of financial protocols and security standards (e.g., OAuth, encryption)
• Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking in complex environments
• Leadership and communication skills for team collaboration
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance in banking
• Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack)
