Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial reporting and controllership functions for JP Morgan Chase's Korea Securities Branch, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and global standards
  • Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory filings to Korean authorities, including financial statements and risk reports
  • Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure adherence to JP Morgan's global policies
  • Lead a team of controllers in day-to-day operations, including month-end and year-end close processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as treasury, operations, and compliance, to support business initiatives
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of legal entity financials to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor changes in Korean regulatory landscape and advise senior management on impacts to the branch
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of management reports for stakeholders in Seoul and New York
  • Support ad-hoc projects, such as system implementations or process optimizations, aligned with JP Morgan's strategic goals
  • Foster a culture of compliance and ethical financial practices within the team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Accounting) preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial reporting, controllership, or regulatory compliance within the financial services industry
  • Strong knowledge of Korean financial regulations, including those from the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and Korea Exchange (KRX)
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or equivalent (e.g., Korean CPA or international equivalent)
  • Proven experience in managing legal entity financial controls for international banks or securities firms
  • Fluency in English and Korean, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with strict deadlines
