Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe-based applications for APAC payments processing using COBOL, JCL, and CICS
• Collaborate with global teams to integrate payment systems with front-end applications and databases
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in high-volume transaction environments to ensure 24/7 system availability
• Implement enhancements to support new APAC payment regulations and protocols, such as ISO 20022
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and performance optimization for mainframe software
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Participate in agile sprints, contributing to backlog grooming and sprint planning for payment technology initiatives
• Monitor system performance and implement disaster recovery procedures for critical payment infrastructure
• Mentor junior engineers on mainframe best practices and JP Morgan's development standards
• Stay updated on emerging technologies to facilitate modernization of legacy payment systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe software development, particularly with IBM z/OS and COBOL
• Proven experience in payments processing systems within the financial services industry
• Strong understanding of APAC payment protocols, including SWIFT, SEPA, and local clearing systems
• Experience with agile methodologies and version control systems like Git or IBM Rational tools
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, global team environment with cross-timezone collaboration
• Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies or financial payments (e.g., IBM Certified Developer)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience with JP Morgan Chase's internal mainframe environments or similar large-scale banking systems
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for mainframe applications in financial services
• Familiarity with cloud migration strategies for legacy mainframe systems
• Prior involvement in regulatory compliance projects for APAC financial regulations

Required Skills

• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 for mainframe development
• Expertise in CICS transaction processing and IMS database management
• Strong knowledge of payments technology, including real-time gross settlement systems
• Experience with IBM z/OS operating system and utilities
• Familiarity with API integration and middleware for mainframe connectivity
• Analytical problem-solving skills for debugging complex financial transactions
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for mainframe
• Understanding of financial regulations like PCI-DSS and APAC-specific compliance
• Scripting skills in REXX or Java for automation tasks
