Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal guidance and support to the Markets division on investment banking activities, including equity and debt offerings
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from SEBI, RBI, and international bodies like IOSCO
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements such as ISDA master agreements, underwriting agreements, and client contracts
  • Facilitate transaction processes by coordinating with internal teams and external counsel on deal structuring
  • Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and capital market deals
  • Advise on risk management, anti-money laundering (AML), and know-your-customer (KYC) compliance
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to internal policies at JP Morgan Chase
  • Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to mitigate legal exposures in trading and sales activities
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution related to markets operations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal support within investment banking or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of Indian financial regulations, SEBI guidelines, and international banking laws
  • Proven experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents for capital markets transactions
  • Admission to the Bar or equivalent professional legal qualification in India
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Hindi is advantageous

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a global financial institution like JP Morgan Chase
  • Familiarity with derivatives, equities, and fixed income markets
  • Advanced degree such as LLM in Corporate or International Finance Law
