Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial modeling, valuation analysis, and due diligence for natural resources clients in oil & gas, mining, and renewables
  • Assist in preparing pitch books, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), and presentation materials for M&A transactions
  • Support senior bankers in deal execution, including merger and acquisition advisory, capital raising, and restructuring
  • Perform market research on industry trends, commodity pricing, and competitive landscapes in the natural resources sector
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, and sector specialists, to deliver comprehensive advisory services
  • Participate in client meetings, roadshows, and negotiations to facilitate successful deal outcomes
  • Monitor regulatory changes and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors impacting natural resources investments
  • Contribute to the development of strategic recommendations for clients on financing strategies and market entry
  • Maintain deal databases and ensure accurate reporting of transaction pipelines
  • Collaborate on global initiatives within J.P. Morgan's Natural Resources Group to support international clients

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably in natural resources
  • Strong academic record with a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Eligibility to work in Canada; must be authorized to work in Calgary, AB without sponsorship
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools
  • Understanding of financial markets, valuation techniques, and capital markets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or experience in investment banking within the natural resources sector (e.g., oil & gas, mining)
