Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis, modeling, and valuation for natural resources clients, including oil & gas, mining, and renewables
  • Assist in preparing pitch books, teasers, and marketing materials for deal origination
  • Support senior bankers in executing M&A transactions, debt financings, and equity offerings
  • Perform due diligence, market research, and competitive analysis on energy sector deals
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, and risk management
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients in the Calgary energy hub
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors affecting natural resources
  • Contribute to business development strategies for expanding JP Morgan's presence in Western Canada
  • Prepare internal reports and presentations for senior management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, preferably in natural resources or energy sectors
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and capital markets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines
  • Canadian work authorization and eligibility to work in Calgary, AB
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the Natural Resources Group or similar energy-focused investment banking roles
  • Knowledge of Canadian energy markets, oil & gas, mining, or renewables
  • Fluency in French is an asset for broader Canadian client interactions
  • CFA Level 1 or higher designation
