Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to the Business and Consumer Credit (BACC) team on payments-related transactions and operations
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents for payment processing and settlement activities
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations governing payments, including AML/KYC and data privacy laws
  • Advise on risk management strategies for cross-border payments and mitigate potential legal exposures
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including compliance, risk, and business teams, to support product development in payments
  • Conduct legal due diligence on third-party vendors and partners in the payments ecosystem
  • Represent the firm in regulatory inquiries, audits, and interactions with Argentine authorities like BCRA
  • Monitor regulatory changes in the payments landscape and implement updates to internal policies
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution involving payment disputes or fraud
  • Contribute to training programs on legal aspects of payments for business units

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution
  • Active license to practice law in Argentina or relevant jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant legal experience in payments, banking, or financial services
  • Strong understanding of Argentine financial regulations, including CNV, BCRA, and anti-money laundering laws
  • Experience advising on cross-border payments and regulatory compliance in a multinational environment
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal issues in a fast-paced corporate setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a global financial institution, preferably with exposure to JPMorgan Chase or similar firms
  • Knowledge of international payment systems such as SWIFT, SEPA, or ISO 20022 standards
