Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable Java-based payment technology solutions for JP Morgan Chase's global payments platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, compliance experts, and operations to ensure solutions meet regulatory and business requirements
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment
• Architect and optimize microservices for high-throughput payment processing, integrating with core banking systems
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues in production environments, and implement robust error handling for financial transactions
• Drive innovation in payment technologies, such as blockchain or API-driven real-time payments, aligned with JP Morgan's strategic initiatives
• Ensure adherence to security standards and perform risk assessments for payment systems handling sensitive financial data
• Monitor system performance and scalability, proactively identifying improvements to support growing transaction volumes
• Contribute to agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to deliver high-impact features on time

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on Java development
• Proven experience leading teams in developing and implementing payment processing systems in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of financial regulations such as PCI-DSS, SWIFT standards, and ISO 20022 for payments
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines in a large-scale enterprise setting
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence
• U.S. work authorization required; ability to obtain necessary security clearances for financial data handling

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with real-time payment systems like RTP or FedNow
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure in a fintech context
• Certifications in Java (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) or payments (e.g., Certified Payments Professional)
• Prior work at a major financial institution with exposure to high-volume transaction processing

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java 8+ and Spring Boot framework
• Proficiency in microservices architecture and RESTful API design
• Experience with databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL solutions (e.g., MongoDB)
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ for real-time data processing
• Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, and Terraform
• Skills in unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and integration testing
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles for financial applications
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Strong communication and leadership abilities for team collaboration
• Agile and scrum methodologies experience
• Knowledge of payment protocols (SWIFT, SEPA, ACH)
• Ability to handle high-pressure environments with tight deadlines
