Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel on securities services products, including custody, fund administration, and collateral management for institutional clients
  • Advise on compliance with U.S. and international securities regulations, ensuring JP Morgan Chase's operations align with SEC, FINRA, and global standards
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements such as ISDA, prime brokerage, and custody contracts
  • Conduct legal risk assessments for new business initiatives, product developments, and market expansions in securities services
  • Collaborate with business teams to mitigate regulatory risks and support strategic initiatives in asset servicing and clearing
  • Represent the firm in regulatory inquiries, examinations, and enforcement matters related to securities activities
  • Develop and deliver training on legal and compliance topics to securities services teams
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting the financial services industry and recommend policy updates
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution involving securities services clients and counterparties
  • Foster relationships with external counsel and regulators to enhance JP Morgan Chase's position in the industry

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the New York State Bar
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience in securities services, banking regulation, or financial law at a major financial institution or law firm
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. securities laws, including the Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and related regulations
  • Proven track record advising on custody, clearing, settlement, and asset servicing in the financial services sector
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, risk management, and interactions with bodies like the SEC and FINRA
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial regulations and apply them to business operations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with minimal supervision
