Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of database infrastructures to support JP Morgan Chase's global financial operations, ensuring scalability and performance for trading, risk analysis, and customer data systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across technology domains to integrate database solutions with application, network, and security infrastructures
• Drive infrastructure engineering initiatives that deliver significant business impact, such as reducing latency in real-time transaction processing for investment banking
• Oversee the migration and modernization of legacy database systems to cloud-native architectures, adhering to financial regulatory requirements
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues in high-volume environments, implementing proactive measures to prevent downtime in 24/7 global markets
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation in database technologies, including emerging tools for big data analytics in wealth management
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure database security protocols align with JP Morgan's cybersecurity standards and industry best practices
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate financial services needs into robust infrastructure solutions, such as supporting algorithmic trading platforms
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness across Chase's asset management divisions
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning for database systems, ensuring resilience against market disruptions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years focused on database systems in a large-scale financial environment
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in designing and implementing high-availability database infrastructures
• Deep expertise in relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly in hybrid cloud environments for financial services
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance standards like GDPR, SOX, and Basel III in the banking sector
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex, mission-critical infrastructure challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle OCP, Microsoft SQL Server) or cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty)
• Experience in agile methodologies and DevOps practices within a financial institution
• Prior work at a global bank like JP Morgan Chase, handling petabyte-scale data environments
• Knowledge of AI/ML integration with databases for fraud detection and risk management
• Master's degree in a technical field or MBA with a focus on technology management

Required Skills

• Expertise in database design, tuning, and administration (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
