Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back-end services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture to support Chase UK's digital banking platform
• Collaborate with front-end teams, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver seamless customer experiences in mobile and web banking applications
• Lead the implementation of scalable, secure APIs that handle high-volume transactions while ensuring compliance with financial regulations
• Optimize system performance and reliability, including database management with SQL/NoSQL and caching strategies to support real-time banking operations
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering best practices in software development
• Integrate third-party services and payment gateways, focusing on secure data handling for UK customers
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, minimizing downtime in mission-critical financial systems
• Contribute to architectural decisions, evaluating new technologies to enhance the resilience and efficiency of back-end infrastructure
• Ensure adherence to security protocols, including encryption, authentication, and audit logging for sensitive financial data
• Participate in agile ceremonies, driving sprint planning and delivery for back-end features that improve customer banking experiences

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional experience in back-end software engineering, with a focus on scalable systems
• Proven track record in developing and maintaining high-performance applications in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and data security standards in banking (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile development methodologies
• Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, with emphasis on secure financial deployments
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical innovation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with JP Morgan Chase or similar large-scale financial institutions
• Knowledge of UK-specific banking regulations and open banking APIs
• Certification in relevant technologies like AWS Certified Developer or Java SE
