Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable Java-based APIs to support JP Morgan's global financial platforms
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and compliance teams to ensure APIs meet business and regulatory requirements
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering best practices in code quality and security
• Drive technical innovation by integrating emerging technologies like microservices and containerization into existing systems
• Conduct code reviews, performance optimizations, and troubleshooting for high-volume transaction processing APIs
• Partner with stakeholders across JP Morgan's lines of business to align API development with strategic goals in investment banking and asset management
• Ensure robust testing, including unit, integration, and security testing, to maintain 99.99% uptime for critical financial services
• Monitor and analyze API performance metrics to proactively address issues in real-time trading environments
• Contribute to the evolution of JP Morgan's technology stack by advocating for secure, efficient solutions in a fast-paced fintech landscape

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on Java development
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of financial regulations such as GDPR, SOX, and PCI-DSS compliance
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile methodologies within high-stakes banking projects
• Demonstrated ability to manage full software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a regulated industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JP Morgan's internal tools and platforms, such as proprietary trading systems
• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies like AWS or Azure in a financial context
• Prior work in capital markets or investment banking software solutions
• Certifications in Java (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) or API design (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect)

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java 8+ and Spring Boot for API development
• Proficiency in RESTful API design, JSON/XML handling, and OAuth/JWT authentication
• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB) for financial data management
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and Docker/Kubernetes
• Understanding of secure coding practices and vulnerability mitigation in banking systems
• Familiarity with financial protocols like FIX and SWIFT for transaction processing
• Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira for project management
• Problem-solving skills for debugging complex, high-throughput systems
• Communication skills to interface with non-technical stakeholders in finance
• Leadership abilities to motivate teams in a collaborative environment
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) for scalable deployments
