Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain reliable infrastructure for JP Morgan Chase's core banking and trading platforms to ensure 99.99% uptime
• Collaborate with development teams to automate deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify bottlenecks in high-volume financial transaction processing
• Lead incident response efforts for production outages, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
• Optimize cloud resources to reduce costs while maintaining scalability for global financial operations
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by integrating security into SRE practices for sensitive financial data
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the evolution of SRE methodologies within the firm
• Develop and maintain observability tools to track metrics, logs, and traces for mission-critical applications
• Participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 availability of JP Morgan's digital banking services
• Drive innovation by adopting emerging technologies to modernize legacy financial systems

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering roles
• Proven experience in building and maintaining highly available, scalable systems in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in infrastructure as code
• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, and incident management processes
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to financial institutions (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC 2)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment handling mission-critical financial systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with trading, risk management, or payment systems
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and microservices architecture
• Prior work at a large-scale financial institution like JP Morgan Chase or similar
• Master's degree in a technical field or MBA with a focus on technology management

Required Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, or Java
• Expertise in Linux/Unix systems administration and networking
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization
• Strong knowledge of Terraform or Ansible for infrastructure automation
• Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or NoSQL options like MongoDB
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., ELK Stack, Datadog)
• Understanding of SRE principles from Google's SRE book applied to financial contexts
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills under pressure
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with finance and compliance teams
• Analytical mindset for performance tuning and capacity planning
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and version control with Git
• Security engineering skills including encryption and access controls
