Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust APIs that integrate with JP Morgan Chase's core banking systems
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define API requirements aligned with financial services goals
• Ensure API security, scalability, and performance to handle high-volume transactions in a regulated environment
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and compliance
• Drive innovation by tackling diverse challenges across multiple technologies, including microservices and event-driven architectures
• Monitor and optimize API performance using tools like monitoring dashboards and analytics in production environments
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to deliver business impact efficiently
• Contribute to the evolution of JP Morgan's API ecosystem, ensuring interoperability with partner systems and third-party integrations
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with API vulnerabilities in the context of financial data handling
• Stay abreast of industry trends in fintech APIs to recommend improvements for JP Morgan's digital transformation initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on API development and integration
• Proven track record in designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs in a financial services environment
• Strong understanding of financial industry regulations such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and SOX compliance
• Experience with agile methodologies and leading cross-functional teams in high-stakes projects
• Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, with emphasis on secure API deployments
• Demonstrated ability to drive business impact through technology solutions in banking or fintech

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with JP Morgan Chase's internal tools or similar enterprise financial systems
• Certification in API management (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft) or cloud security
• Prior leadership in API modernization projects within a global financial institution
• Knowledge of blockchain or emerging fintech technologies

Required Skills

• Expertise in Java, Python, or Node.js for backend API development
• Proficiency in RESTful and GraphQL API design principles
• Strong knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, API gateways)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Database skills including SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB)
• Understanding of microservices architecture and event streaming (Kafka)
