Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services for Chase UK's digital banking platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate front-end applications with robust back-end APIs
• Implement scalable microservices to handle high-volume transactions securely and efficiently
• Optimize database queries and ensure data integrity in compliance with financial regulations
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices in software development
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in real-time payment processing systems
• Contribute to the evolution of the platform by incorporating emerging technologies like AI for fraud detection
• Ensure adherence to security protocols and perform regular audits for vulnerabilities
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to deliver iterative improvements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of professional experience in back-end software engineering
• Strong proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented programming languages
• Experience with building scalable, high-performance applications in a financial services environment
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
• Demonstrated ability to work with large-scale databases and data persistence solutions
• Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards in banking (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly digital banking
• Familiarity with UK-specific regulatory requirements for financial technology
