Key Responsibilities

• Lead resiliency design reviews for medium to large-sized products, ensuring robust architecture that withstands failures and meets financial industry SLAs
• Break down complex technical problems into actionable components, guiding development teams in implementing scalable solutions
• Act as a technical lead, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with product, engineering, and operations teams at JP Morgan Chase
• Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and automation strategies to enhance system reliability in high-stakes financial environments
• Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, driving continuous improvement in system performance and reducing downtime
• Collaborate on capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises to support 24/7 global trading and banking operations
• Integrate security and compliance best practices into SRE workflows, ensuring adherence to JP Morgan's risk management frameworks
• Develop and maintain SRE toolchains, including CI/CD pipelines tailored for financial services applications
• Participate in on-call rotations, responding to production issues and minimizing impact on customer-facing services
• Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, tech talks, and cross-team initiatives to foster a culture of reliability

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles
• Proven track record in leading resiliency design reviews and technical leadership for medium to large-scale products in financial services
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, microservices architecture, and high-availability systems
• Experience with incident management, on-call rotations, and post-mortem analysis in a 24/7 operational environment
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go, with hands-on experience in automation and scripting
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards relevant to financial services, such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and SOX

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a global financial institution like JP Morgan Chase, handling high-volume transaction systems
• Certification in SRE practices (e.g., Google SRE certification) or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)
• Background in leading cross-functional teams in agile environments, with exposure to DevOps pipelines
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk in a fintech context
• Prior involvement in resiliency engineering for mission-critical applications in banking or payments

Required Skills

• Expertise in SRE principles, including error budgets, SLOs, and SLIs
• Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP for scalable infrastructure
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Go for automation and tooling
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack
• Incident response and blameless post-mortem facilitation
• Understanding of microservices, API design, and service mesh technologies
• Agile methodologies and DevOps practices for collaborative development
• Risk assessment and compliance in financial services environments
• Leadership and communication skills for technical guidance and stakeholder management
• Problem-solving abilities to decompose complex systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar
• Data analysis skills for performance metrics and capacity forecasting
