Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and determine the fair value of private equity investments in accordance with JP Morgan Chase's valuation policies and regulatory requirements
  • Perform detailed financial modeling, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions for portfolio companies
  • Collaborate with investment teams, portfolio managers, and external auditors to validate valuation assumptions and methodologies
  • Monitor market conditions, economic indicators, and industry trends impacting private equity valuations
  • Prepare valuation reports, documentation, and disclosures for internal stakeholders and regulatory filings
  • Identify and mitigate valuation risks, ensuring compliance with ASC 820 and other relevant standards
  • Support the development and enhancement of valuation control processes and tools within the Controller group
  • Conduct periodic reviews and back-testing of valuation models to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Liaise with third-party valuation providers and negotiate service agreements as needed
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects, such as system implementations or process improvements in JP Morgan's Asset & Wealth Management division

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in valuation, private equity, or investment accounting within financial services
  • Strong understanding of fair value accounting standards (e.g., ASC 820, IFRS 13)
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques for illiquid assets
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification
  • Experience with private equity fund structures and investment vehicles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment at a global financial institution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA) in Finance or related discipline
  • Prior experience at a Big Four firm or major investment bank like JP Morgan Chase
