As a Wealth Management Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in delivering impactful legal advice that drives the success of our Wealth Management business. Based in our New York office, you will partner closely with business leaders, compliance teams, and other legal professionals to navigate complex regulatory environments and support innovative product offerings in the financial services industry. In this position, you will provide strategic counsel on a wide range of matters, including the development and launch of wealth management products, client onboarding processes, and adherence to SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory requirements. You will review and negotiate key agreements, advise on risk mitigation strategies, and respond to regulatory examinations, ensuring that J.P. Morgan's wealth management practices remain compliant and competitive. Your expertise will help safeguard the firm while enabling business growth in areas such as personalized investment advisory and digital wealth solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on wealth management products, services, and initiatives to support J.P. Morgan's business objectives
  • Review and draft contracts, client agreements, disclosures, and marketing materials to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Advise on regulatory matters including SEC filings, FINRA examinations, and responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including compliance, risk management, and business leaders to mitigate legal risks
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on emerging issues in wealth management, such as ESG investing and digital assets
  • Support internal investigations and assist in litigation strategy related to wealth management activities
  • Develop and implement policies to enhance compliance with federal securities laws and industry standards
  • Mentor junior legal staff and contribute to the broader legal strategy for J.P. Morgan Wealth Management
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting the financial services sector and recommend adaptations

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the New York State Bar (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience in wealth management, financial services, or regulatory law
  • Strong understanding of SEC regulations, FINRA rules, and other federal and state laws applicable to wealth management
  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Experience advising on product development, client agreements, and compliance matters in the financial industry
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues involving investment advisory services and brokerage activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a major financial institution, ideally in wealth management or private banking
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and KYC requirements
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA in the context of financial services
  • Advanced degree or certification in finance, securities law, or related field
