In this position, you will dive deep into financial statements, industry analyses, and market intelligence to evaluate creditworthiness and recommend risk mitigation strategies. You will collaborate closely with relationship managers in Japan and Hong Kong, leveraging your expertise to influence lending decisions and portfolio management. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing credit monitoring and periodic reviews of client facilities for the Japan portfolio from Hong Kong
  • Perform detailed financial analysis, including ratio analysis, cash flow projections, and stress testing
  • Assess and mitigate credit risks associated with wholesale lending to corporate clients
  • Collaborate with the Japan team to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
  • Prepare credit memos, risk reports, and recommendations for senior management
  • Monitor market developments and industry trends impacting client creditworthiness
  • Support portfolio management by identifying early warning signs of credit deterioration
  • Liaise with relationship managers, legal teams, and external rating agencies
  • Contribute to the development of credit risk strategies tailored to the Asia-Pacific region

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in wholesale banking or corporate lending
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Proficiency in Japanese language (business level) to support Japan-focused operations
  • Experience in the Asia-Pacific financial markets, with knowledge of regulatory requirements in Hong Kong and Japan
  • Relevant certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent in credit risk

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Finance) with a focus on risk management
  • Prior experience working with multinational banks in cross-border credit portfolios
  • Familiarity with JP Morgan Chase's internal credit systems and processes
  • Track record of managing credit facilities for large corporate clients in the wholesale sector
