NHP Enablement & Integration (NHPE&I) is dedicated to executing strategic priorities and driving operational effectiveness, sustainability, and long-term durability across Kaiser Permanente-s National Health Plan (NHP). As a central partner to the entire NHP, NHPE&I plays a critical role in aligning and integrating efforts across functions and with the broader enterprise.
Summer Internship: NHP Performance Transformation
Are you ready to tackle complex business challenges and redesign how a large organization measures success? Join our team to streamline our NHP Performance Management systems, setting the foundation for 2026 and beyond.
Your Mission: Focus & Optimization
Our current performance tracking is complex and fragmented. You will be a key contributor in simplifying processes so our leaders and teams can focus on what matters most.
Internship Projects:
Goal-Setting Foundation: Assist in the ongoing effort to refresh the Focused Agenda and streamline NHP goal setting by documenting standard definitions and identifying core priorities for the next cycle.
Management Forum Optimization: Maintain and monitor current Monthly and Quarterly Business Review (MBR/QBR) structures to structured agendas and streamlined materials.
Data Consolidation & Alignment: Support the team in consolidating goal and initiative tracking by gathering data sources and aligning success metrics across various functions and LOBs.
Reporting Design: Contribute to the design and development of consolidated management reporting dashboards at the NHP, LOB, and functional levels to enhance data clarity and support leadership decision-making.
Process Blueprinting: Document current performance management processes to create a clear foundation that enables the future introduction of AI and automation features.
Governance & Strategic Alignment: Partner with the team to define and refine governance principles that ensure initiatives are aligned to enterprise priorities. This includes clarifying decision rights, identifying interdependencies, and creating frameworks that enable leadership to make informed, forward-looking decisions.
Enterprise Metric Alignment: Support efforts to align success measures across multiple initiatives by consolidating data sources, validating definitions, and ensuring consistency in how progress is assessed.
Executive Insight Development: Contribute to the design of reporting tools and dashboards that distill complex information into clear, strategic insights for senior leadership, enabling timely and informed decisions.
Strategic Engagement Support: Assist in shaping communication strategies and synthesizing stakeholder feedback to inform adoption plans and strengthen alignment across the organization.
Target Majors:
Business Administration; Public Health; Healthcare Administration
Target Skillset:
Proficiency in Excel; bonus for Tableau/Power BI. Ability to analyze metrics and consolidate data clearly.
Ability to decompose complex process issues into clear, actionable steps.
Critical for accurate goal/metric alignment, tracking, and ensuring standard definitions.
Skill in mapping current workflows (goal setting, reporting) and proposing practical improvements.
Basic understanding of tracking tasks, managing timelines, and coordinating inputs across stakeholders.
Foundational knowledge of KPIs, OKRs, or MBR structures.
Ability to draft concise summaries and document standards for leaders.
Professionalism in conducting interviews and gathering requirements/feedback from senior leaders.
Comfort in compiling and communicating project progress and solutions.
Familiarity with collaboration (SharePoint/Confluence) and task management tools.
Conceptual understanding of how AI/BPA can automate reporting or goal setting.
Familiarity with dashboarding tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Conceptual understanding of KPIs, OKRs, or business process automation (BPA).
Experience with collaboration/project tools like SharePoint, Trello, or Asana.
