Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for Physical Therapy management of members under the direction and supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager. This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures. In addition, regional leaders are accountable for communication, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and oversight of compliance policies and practices in their departments. In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.



Essential Responsibilities:


  • Assumes all responsibilities as outlined in Physical Therapist II job description.

  • Provides direct member care through a variety of modalities, including in-person, telephonic, and/or video-based services.

  • Provides consultation and mentoring to the Physical Therapy staff in general practice and their specific area of specialization.

  • Provides education to physical therapists through formal and informal education in their specialty both locally and regionally.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care to members who require their expertise.

  • For their area of specialty, acts as a consultant to staff members for the management of members and is a resource for on-going, professional development of the staff in their specialty.

  • Assesses staff competencies, clinical judgment, education, and training needs in their specialty. 

  • Provides direct member care, especially for members with complex problems related to their specialty.

  • Provides competent member care at a senior level as defined below.

  • Senior therapists provide leadership to the department, supervise PTAs, students, and support staff.

  • Provides a leadership role to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Physical Therapy services.

  • Provides clinical direction to staff in our role as senior staff.

  • Assumes responsibility for the management of high volume of members, including those with complex problems or special needs in their area of specialty.

  • Aids the Lead Therapist/ Rehabilitation Manager as needed and covers for Lead Therapist/Rehabilitation Manager when they are unavailable.

  • Provides coverage as needed in other facilities within the region if appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
