Position Summary
The Director of Corporate Insurance plays a pivotal role in KeyCorp's risk management framework, developing and executing comprehensive insurance strategies for KeyCorp and its subsidiaries. Reporting to Key Legal, this leader focuses on risk containment within a partially self-insured program. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of large-lines insurance expertise, including executive risks like D&O and cyber coverage, and thrive in engaging with senior executives, the Board of Directors, and cross-functional teams. Supervise a small team while driving insurance procurement, claims oversight, and compliance in a fast-paced financial institution environment.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Program Design and Procurement
- Lead budgeting, design, and binding of policies covering Property & Casualty, D&O, Employment Practices, Fiduciary, Cyber, Aviation, and more.
- Validate underwriting data, represent KeyBank in meetings, and adapt to industry trends.
Relationship Management and Leadership
- Cultivate partnerships with brokers, insurers, legal teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Mentor team members and serve as insurance subject matter expert.
Claims and Financial Management
- Oversee insured/self-insured claims, subrogation, and participate in legal proceedings.
- Draft risk transfer language for contracts and manage risk information systems.
- Coordinate premium allocations and loss reserves with Finance and actuaries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, or related field.
- 10+ years in large-lines insurance with executive risk experience.
- Proven leadership in team development and partnerships.
- Financial acumen, MS Office proficiency, and RMIS experience (e.g., Riskonnect).
- Up to 5% travel, including international.
Preferred: MBA/JD/CPCU/ARM, financial institution/public company experience, complex claims management.
