Position Summary
The Sr Transactions Underwriter plays a critical role in our commercial real estate loan servicing team. Based at 11501 Outlook Street in Overland Park, Kansas, this hybrid position (#LI-Hybrid) involves underwriting complex borrower requests for lender consents, including assumptions, transfers of interest, partial releases, easements, alterations, modifications, and property management changes. Underwrite approximately 50 moderate to highly complex transactions annually while ensuring compliance with loan documents and servicing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Core Underwriting Duties
- Conduct thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis of legal documents, property financial statements, rent rolls, real estate collateral, borrower structure, and management experience.
- Communicate effectively with borrowers, attorneys, third parties, and real estate investors to gather essential information.
- Negotiate terms that mitigate risk to the noteholder and align with lender interests.
- Prepare detailed credit memos summarizing requests and recommendations for internal approvers, loan servicers, and rating agencies.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and support staff to document and close transactions.
Additional Functions
- Support Transactions Managers with hiring, training, mentoring, process improvements, and special projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance.
- 3-4 years of commercial mortgage loan servicing and/or underwriting experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred: Experience in real estate underwriting, closing, credit analysis, loan servicing, or special servicing.
